Alexandria – and the metro DC area - is full of heart-centered animal lovers. Just walk around Old Town Alexandria and notice the water bowls for dogs outside businesses and folks dining outside while their dogs sleep or wait for tasty tidbits to be dropped for them.
And we heart-centered animal lovers wonder and worry about some of our animals’ behaviors or emotions. For instance, they might not eliminate where we’d like them to. Some are aggressive. Some stress out when we leave them alone. With rescue animals, we wonder if their behaviors are a result of past experiences.
Many times, we worry about their physical health. Are they in pain? Is the pain manageable? As they age, are they still enjoying life or has daily living become a burden?
Finally, some of us want to know if our animals are doing okay in the afterlife and if they still feel connected to us.
Intuitive animal communication can help you find out more
Animal Communicator Maribeth Decker connects and communicates with animals intuitively so you can discover what’s going on from their perspective. You can ask them questions and share what’s on your mind, too.
Additionally, with her medical intuition and energy healing skills, Maribeth helps release emotions or beliefs surrounding upsetting behaviors.
Animal communication isn’t a substitute for medical or behavioral advice, but it can give you a different and potentially useful perspective on what’s going on from your animal.
Does animal communication work?
Maribeth has had many successes with the families she’s worked with. Here are a few examples.
Dr. Jake Dodds, DC & Grover, Virginia
“We adopted my dog Grover 3 years ago. After seeing Grover struggle with unpredictable aggressive behavior – lunging at trucks in the road, growling/barking at other dogs – I knew that we needed some extra help. He had bad past experiences that were affecting his behavior.
“I came to Maribeth to reshape some of his behaviors but left with much more than that. Grover has greatly improved his interactions with other dogs and other triggers.
“What was much more valuable was my relationship with Grover. He is no longer a pet I need to control. He is an individual who is capable of communicating emotions and thoughts.
“The time and the investment with Maribeth have been more beneficial than I could have imagined. I would highly recommend the journey for anyone who wants help understanding their furry friends so that everyone can move forward in a positive way.“
Cathy H. & Sakari, Colorado
“My dog Sakari had severe separation anxiety. When my trainer suggested an animal communicator, I was skeptical. We had been training for 6 months and still could only leave her alone for less than 20 minutes before she started destroying the house and injuring herself. It was a life-or-death situation.
“What did I have to lose in working with Maribeth? We focused on both Sakari and Rudy, my 16-year-old rat terrier. Rudy had been diagnosed with cancer 6 months earlier and was given 6 months to live.
“Imagine how I felt when Maribeth said Rudy had a very strong life energy; he wasn’t ready to go. Part of me was happy and part of me thought she was crazy. Fast forward 5 more months – Rudy is still with me, feisty and happy and outliving every doctor’s prediction.
“I crated Sakari for her safety. Both a certified behaviorist and my trainer recommended this. Maribeth didn’t think Sakari could handle confinement long-term; Sakari wanted more space. I gave her access to a room upstairs, where she could look out a window. She loved it.
“Maribeth asked if I had any safety issues that might impact Sakari’s anxiety. I brushed it off with a defiant “No, everything is fine!” But one night I experienced anxiety and couldn’t find Sakari. I found her under the bed. She picked up my anxiety!
“I then worked hard to manage my own energy. These anxiety-reducing practices were key to her healing. Plus, Maribeth shared with Sakari that I was never going to leave her and she is safe with me. Within weeks, Sakari improved. And within a few months I could leave her home alone while I went to work. Other people told me that separation anxiety was incurable, but we had overcome it!”
Does one session fix everything?
It’s unrealistic to ask your animal to always be perfect. You will be disappointed if you hold them to a higher standard than you would hold yourself. We can’t say, “they’re only human,” but you get the idea.
Many clients see enough progress or receive enough benefit that one session is enough. However, sometimes one session is not enough. Quick fixes for animals’ chronic issues are rare just like for us humans.

A retired Naval Officer, Maribeth found her calling as an animal communicator after becoming a Reiki Master. He probably thought that language was okay because of her time in the Navy – think “swearing like a sailor!” That got her attention.
Maribeth works with animal guardians who dearly love their animal and yet are facing tough animal issues. She uses her intuitive animal communication, medical intuition, and energetic healing skills to address animals’ physical, emotional, and behavioral issues.
Although most of her clients have been dogs and cats, Maribeth has been privileged to work with other species such as horses, miniature donkeys, miniature mules, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and parrots.
Maribeth’s mission is to bring a greater depth of love, compassion, and comfort into the human-animal relationship. Her rich personal life experiences have enabled her to bring a wealth of heart-centered wisdom to her work with each client.
