What inspired you to start Nounou Nanny, and how has your journey been since its inception?
I was inspired to start Nounou Nanny because I have a genuine love for children and enjoy the opportunity to positively influence their growth and development. I developed this love and inspiration during college when I worked as a nanny for families throughout the DC and Northern Virginia area. Through this experience, I became really passionate about fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for children to thrive in and took pride in playing a role in their upbringing. Since its inception, my journey has allowed me to embrace my passion by providing the highest quality nanny care for children, expertly matching parents with nannies, and building meaningful relationships with families.
Can you describe the range of services that Nounou Nanny offers to families in Alexandria and the surrounding areas?
Nounou Nanny provides access to qualified nannies/caregivers who assist families with short-term and long-term childcare. We match families with a list of qualified, trusted, and fully vetted nanny candidates. The family then hand-selects the nanny that best meets their needs and requirements.
How do you ensure that the nannies you place are qualified and trustworthy?
Through screening and verification protocols! We only refer nannies who we have personally interviewed, fully vetted, and evaluated against the family's requirements and preferences. Through my years of experience in this industry, I have developed a strong network of trusted nannies that we can leverage when needed. Beyond conducting extensive background checks and professional reference verifications, we also develop an understanding of the nanny candidate's personality, unique characteristics, and other factors to ensure a successful match.

Can you share a success story or memorable experience from a family or nanny that used your services?
Yes! I was able to source a wonderful nanny for a client whose child was battling a very serious medical condition. Of course, the family was under a great deal of stress due to the circumstances surrounding their child and we worked closely together to select the right nanny. The nanny they hired loved their child and treated her like their own- she was equal parts loving and structured, which was perfect. The family was able to trust their nanny unwaveringly and their partnership provided support not only for the child, but for each other. It was such a rewarding placement for Nounou Nanny to work on!
How has the demand for nanny services changed in recent years, and how has Nounou Nanny adapted to these changes?
Over the years, both private in-home childcare costs and demand for high-quality nannies have risen sharply. This has made it difficult for families with little ones. Under these conditions, we strive to make every penny spent on the nanny selection process as seamless, stress-free, and efficient as possible. We take this responsibility seriously and owe it to our families.
What do you find most rewarding about running a nanny placement service?
Happy clients and happy nannies! I love it when I receive follow-up emails, texts, and phone calls letting me know that both parties feel such ease and fulfillment working with one another--it's truly the best feeling in the world to me!
How do you support both families and nannies during the placement process and beyond?
I encourage my clients and their nanny hires to contact me during and after the placement process. It helps me to understand and meet their needs, provide continued support, and improve the overall process. I also equippe clients and nannies with the appropriate tools to build trustworthy relationships and open communication during employment. Since Nounou Nanny provides a boutique and personalized service, I make myself available for ongoing advice, tips, and support throughout the engagement.
What advice would you give to parents who are considering hiring a nanny for the first time?
You can do this! As a first time mom myself, I know the emotional ups and downs that come with allowing a new person such as a nanny to care for the most important gift in your life--your new baby.
