Little Birdies, a boutique with children's clothing, home luxuries and gifts, is open in Old Town.
The store opened in early March at 103 S. St. Asaph St.
Shanlee Johnson, owner of Little Birdies Boutique, graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and formerly had store locations in Georgetown and Tyson's Galleria. She was also part of a pop-up space in Old Town at 116 King St.
In 2017, Johnson premiered her very own line of children’s clothing, PineappleSunshine, with stylish children's items made of 100% Peruvian Pima Cotton, the softest cotton available on the market. Johnson is also the author of the best-selling children’s book, Toco Can Can: and you can too!
"A store as beautiful as it is unique, Johnson embodies a Southern approach to children’s wear, offering nostalgic, hard to find, traditional clothing mixed in with fun, playful styles," according to the company.
“Being a part of the charming historic district of Old Town Alexandria has always been a dream” says Johnson. “Having been a part of the former 116 King Street Pop-up, we realized what a wonderful community there is for small business here in Old Town and knew we wanted to be a part of it. It’s a dream come true!” Johnson said in a press release.
And grand opening party will be hosted on April 25.
The retailer is next to Madame Coco's Emporium And Everything Chocolate, which plans to open this spring.
