The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce honored the best businesses and nonprofit organizations in Alexandria Thursday. The annual Best in Business Awards looked different this year, with most people turning in virtually, due to the pandemic.
Honors for the top nonprofit organization went to Volunteer Alexandria, which matches volunteers with opportunities in Alexandria. Since the pandemic started, the organization has helped volunteers give thousands of hours to Alexandria organizations that serve residents — from food distribution to emergency training. Learn more about how to get involved at volunteeralexandria.org.
The honor for best overall business went to INOVA Alexandria hospital, which has served thousands of Alexandria residents and stepped up to the challenge of the coronavirus pandemic this year. INOVA is working on creating a new healthplex in Oakville Triangle.
Dr. Tammy Mann was named the 2020 Business Leader of the Year. Mann is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Campagna Center, an organization that serves thousands of children and families throughout Alexandria every day. During her leadership tenure, she has expanded the organization’s reach and its ability to serve less privileged children and families in our community.
The awards for small, medium and large businesses went to marketing and strategic brand management firm Mekanic, IT company Focus Data Solutions, and real estate investment firm Bonaventure.
The Rising Star award went to Del Ray Psych and Wellness.
