Brush Hero is a water-based cleaning tool originally designed for bicycles and cars. The company is based in Alexandria and appeared on Shark Tank in January 2018.
Update Jan. 21, 2018:
Two of the inventors of the Brush Hero cleaning tool, Kevin Williams and Glenn Archer of Alexandria, appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank — but they left without a deal after declining the final offer from Shark Tank’s Lori Greiner.
The inventors have already done more than $1.5 million in sales of their patented, water-powered cleaning brush and are projecting $3 million in sales in 2018. They were seeking a $500,000 investment for a 10 percent stake in the company.
With concerns about marketing, valuation and sales, three of the Sharks (Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavek) bowed out. Daymond John originally offered $500,000 for 25 percent, but removed himself after citing concerns about other products on the market.
Greiner initially matched John’s offer, but revised it to $250,000 loan at 7 percent plus an additional $250,000 for a 25 percent stake. Williams and Archer declined.
Original story published Jan. 20, 2018:
The inventors of a cleaning tool will be appearing on ABC Television’s Shark Tank. The company, Brush Hero, is based in Alexandria.
The Brush Hero is a water-powered cleaning brush originally designed for bikes and cars.
“As car geeks who are also cyclists, we were looking for a cool wheel brush that cleans both cars and bikes gently, without displacing the grease. In Brush Hero, we created so much more. It works on bikes, cars, grills, patios, garden tools, planters, pots…even pets!” the company’s website says.
The episode airs Sunday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. (ET). ABC has not yet released the names of the people appearing in the episode.
The Brush Hero can run connected to a garden hose, shower or faucet. Running water spins the brush at a relatively low speed to prevent the user from getting wet. The starter set starts at $34.99 on the Brush Hero website; you can order additional brushes, accessories and gift packs for more.

The company’s products are produced and distributed by Columbus Professional Services. The Utah-based organization provides jobs to people with disabilities.
Shark Tank on ABC allows inventors and product developers to pitch their products to millionaires, who make decisions on the spot about whether to invest in the company (often for a stake in the company). The Shark Tank “Sharks” are Robert Herjavec, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary. The show is now in its 9th season.
