For the first time in franchise history, the Washington Nationals are in the World Series!
The Washington Nationals rolled over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS (National League Championship Series), sweeping four straight games.
This is the first time the Washington Nationals are going to the World Series. The first Washington team, the Senators, won the World Series in 1924 (they became the Minnesota Twins in 1960). The Senators last appearance in the World Series was in 1933, when they lost to the Giants. The Montreal Expos, who became the Washington Nationals when they moved here in 2004, had never played in the World Series.
World Series games started Tuesday, Oct. 22, with the Nats defeating the Houston Astros 5 - 4.
