Joe Thiesmann was on hand Wednesday evening for the grand reopening of his namesake restaurant near the King Street Metro.
Joe Theismann's Restaurant underwent a major renovation this year.
Alexandria-based Dambly Design, KGA Studios architect Paul Beckmann, and the Russell Gage Corporation were brought in by Alexandria Restaurant Partners (ARP) and Theismann for the project.
“Theismann’s is more than just a great place to watch the game,” said Carlee Cardwell, lead designer and President at Dambly Design. “This is now a place that really evokes the value of a great family dining experience and incorporates more of Joe’s personality and football greatness into every aspect of the new space."
The grand opening included an appearance by Theismann and his Super Bowl trophy, ring and Redskins Cheerleaders Alumni members. Plus, of course, food and beer.
Theismann spent 12 seasons with the Washington Redskins in the 1970s and 1980s. He helped take the team to two Super Bowls, winning one of them — Super Bowl XVII in 1982 against the Miami Dolphins.
