A spring tradition will return to the National Harbor Waterfront on the Potomac with the 11th Annual National Wine & Food Festival Saturday, May 4 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
This year the event will feature a gospel brunch Sunday with bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. More than just a tasting, the festival brings together award-winning chefs, artisanal craftsmen, culinary pioneers, live music, as well as wine and spirits from around the world.
The festival will include more than 150 International wines, spirits and beers featured along with local and regional favorites in and all-you-care-to-taste affair. Guests will sample all of the varieties as well as purchase them by the glass and the bottle, on-site at special event only low prices.
Beyond the drink tastings there are many other highlights which include: The Stella Artois Specialty Craft Beer tasting experience, The Champagne Lounge, The Rose’ Garden, A Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Bar, an expanded VIP section, the Whole Foods Market Flavor Station featuring hands-on cooking demonstrations with chefs from Whole Foods as well as local celebrity chefs, and wine pairings, live music and more.
This year’s organizers have turned up the heat on cooking demos by offering the Whole Foods Market Flavor Station. Special appearances include:
- Saturday: Chef Scott Drewno of Chiko, Johanna Hellrigl of Doi Moi and Chef Victor Albisu of Taco Bamba.
- Sunday will feature Lucky Buns DC and Rock Harper of Rock Solid Creative Food Group. Wine expert Brent Knoll of Maxwell will pair wines with each of the chef’s dishes throughout the demonstrations.
All of these local, regional and nationally recognized chefs will offer meet and greets and sample tastes after their cooking demonstrations.
National Wine and Food tickets are on sale and range from a VIP Saturday ticket ($90) or Sunday ticket ($70) to a General Admission One-Day Pass for $40 in advance.
