The Middleburg Film Festival takes over the picturesque “horse and hunt capital” Thursday, Oct. 13-Sunday, Oct. 16 with a full weekend of film screenings and special events. Middleburg is located about 60 miles west of Alexandria, perfect for a weekend drive or getaway.
The festival is celebrating its 10-year anniversary and showing off its status as a legitimate player in the festival circuit. Many of the events featuring A-list talent are sold out, like the Saturday Q&A with actor Brendan Fraser who’s received significant awards buzz for his transformative appearance in Darren Aronofsky’s new film, The Whale.
Featuring a diverse variety of narrative and documentary films, the festival is likely to please both cinephiles and every-once-in-awhile moviegoers.
Selections peaking our interest include the much-anticipated Knives Out sequel; Causeway starring Jennifer Lawrence and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, a documentary about photographer Nan Goldin’s activist work to hold Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family accountable for the opioid crisis.
