Held annually on the first Saturday in March, the St. Patrick's Day Parade has grown to become the largest one-day event in Old Town Alexandria.
Featuring pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups and a host of other musicians and performers. It is a fantastic day to spend with family or friends. For over 40 years, the Ballyshaners have been pleased to provide Alexandrians with the finest Irish celebrations. Join in the fun on March 4, 2023, as the parade steps out once again!
If you love the parade, please consider donating time or money to the cause! Attend a fundraiser or volunteer--the Ballyshaners always need help planning and staffing the parade and their annual Irish Festival.
Contact them at ballyshaners@yahoo.com for specific volunteer opportunities or join the Ballyshaners! There's no membership fee, and they hold monthly meetings at 7 p.m., dates to be determined with weekly meetings in the two months preceding the parade. Dates and locations are posted on their website and their Facebook page.
The parades typically cost tens of thousands of dollars and require months of careful planning, and the past two years have been difficult for members, sponsors, and local businesses.
