Giving back to the community is a key mission of the festival, whereby organizers select local charities to donate event proceeds. The event Board of Directors presented two $10,000 checks to event beneficiaries USO (Metro Washington Baltimore) and Alexandria non-profit ALIVE! which provides short-term to long-term support for those less fortunate in the community. These organizations were also given $3,000 each last year by the Festival during the height of the pandemic — when they needed the money the most.
The festival has donated nearly $30,000 to local charities since its inception. Planning is underway for the Third Annual Old Town Festival of Speed & Style, presented by Burke & Herbert Bank, which is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 22, 2022. Local charities for the 2022 event will be announced next week.
