Summerfest is set at Mount Vernon on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10.
Beer was a favorite drink of George Washington, as it was for many people living in 18th-century America. On Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, Mount Vernon will host Summerfest on its grounds at the historic estate of the first president. Patrons will get the chance to sample craft beer from local breweries, hear live music and explore the historic area after hours.
Tickets are $48 for non-members and $40 for members. Your ticket includes a commemorative tasting cup and eight tasting tickets. Additional tastings are available to purchase for $2 each on-site. Here's a look at what's in store:
12-ACRE FIELD
- Beer Tasting – craft beers and hard seltzers available for tasting and purchase
- Fresh bread from Half Crown Bakehouse will be available for purchase
- Concessions from the Mount Vernon Inn Food Truck
BOWLING GREEN
- Live music by The Fly Birds (6-8:30 p.m.)
MANSION AND OUTBUILDINGS
- Mansion will remain closed during this event
- Outbuildings will be open (Blacksmith Shop closed)
THE SHOPS AT MOUNT VERNON
- Shop at the Mount Vernon gift shop until 8:45 p.m.
Doors open at 6 p.m. each night.
No outside food or beverages are allowed, except bottled water.
Concessions by the Mount Vernon Inn will be available for purchase. Credit cards are accepted for concessions.
Sample Mount Vernon's Historically Inspired Beers
Mount Vernon beers, produced in collaboration with Dynasty Brewing Co., pay homage to George Washington’s love of porter. The beers are:
RULES OF CIVILITY #73 ENGLISH BITTER: A bright, sparkling beverage, pale amber in color and a delicate hop flavor, brewed with English and Virginia barley malt and Golding Hops.
MOUNT VERNON VIRGINIA PORTER: A creamy, full-bodied ale, this porter was brewed with Virginia-grown malt and imparts notes of caramel and chocolate.
