Waldo
Waldo will be in Alexandria in July — and if you look carefully, you'll see him pop up at 25 local retailers. Waldo, the iconic children’s book character, will be in town to help encourage residents to shop and buy from local businesses. Find Waldo in Alexandria is led by Hooray for Books!
The popular bookstore, at 1555 King St., will host a monthlong scavenger hunt to find Waldo in 25 local participating businesses. Shoppers will be encouraged to find a 6-inch Waldo standee and get a stamp from each business where they find the boy in the striped shirt.
Throughout the month, there will be prizes awarded to the players, and on Sunday, July 31, there will be a big Waldo event at Hooray for Books! Find Waldo Local launched in 2012 and hundreds of bookstores take the lead on the effort in their city every July.
