The Old Town Business and Professional Association will hold an ice cream social celebrating Alexandria's 269th birthday Tuesday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Murray-Dick-Fawcett House and Historic Park at 517 Prince St.
The home is one of the oldest in the City and was recently acquired by Alexandria to be operated in the future as a museum.
Donations will be taken at the door for the future museum; checks can be made out to the City of Alexandria and are 100 percent tax deductible.
Wine and cheese, light refreshments and of course — ice cream — will be served.
The event is sponsored by Imagine Artwear. Owner Carol Supplee recently signed a 15-year lease for her business and is celebrating 26 years in business.
