Kids may be back to school but summer in Alexandria is not truly over until the city’s pups celebrate the annual dog swim days at local pools.
On Friday, Sept. 20 from 4-7 p.m. small dogs under 25 lbs. can enjoy the “Itty Bitty Doggie Dive” at the Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Recreation Center in Alexandria, at 901 Wythe St.
Larger dogs are welcome at the “Big Dog Day Swim” on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at Old Town Pool at 1609 Cameron St.
Dogs must be under the control of handlers who are 16 years old or older. Dogs should also have current vaccination tags or documentation. Event organizers suggest that handlers bring their own dog dishes for water.
