Shoppers are invited to wear their most stylish face masks and face coverings while they hunt for bargains at the Alexandria Summer Sidewalk sale on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16.
Visit Alexandria announced that the popular event will return this summer with over 50 boutiques throughout Del Ray and Old Town to participate. Retailers will be selling summer merchandise at deep discount. Everything from fashion and jewelry to home or culinary goods will be available to buy.
A map of participating stores will be posted on the event website the week of the event. Additionally, maps can be picked up at the information tent in the park at the corner of King and Fayette streets and at the Alexandria Visitor Center located at 221 King St. during the event.
There will be a special new Instagram giveaway this year! Outside, each store will display a pink flamingo. To enter the giveaway, simply snap a photo with the bird the week leading up to and weekend of the sale and post to Instagram, tagging @otboutiques, @oldtownbusiness and @VisitAlexVA and use #ALXsidewalksale. The winner will be selected on Aug 17 and will receive a $100 gift card to the participating boutique of the winner’s choice.
Follow Visit Alexandria on Instagram at @VisitAlexVA for more chances to win. On Aug 7 and 14, the two Fridays leading up to the event, a random winner will receive a $125 boutique gift certificate and a washable cotton mask from KH Giving.
The event will be held in partnership with City of Alexandria, Old Town Boutique District, Old Town Business Association and Del Ray Business Association. Free parking at meters in Old Town will be provided and street parking in Del Ray will remain free as usual.
