A new, local board game is available for pre-order now — and you might recognize some of it.
ALX-opoly is a local twist on a world-famous board game. The Chamber of Commerce collaborated with local businesses to create the game and they tried to be as creative as possible, said The Chamber ALX's Lovie Patish.
The game showcases 22 Alexandria landmarks, including George Washington’s Masonic National Memorial, Cameron Run Park, the Carlyle Lions, Mount Vernon Avenue and George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Pewter player pieces include the Town Crier, a construction hat, the Tall Ship Providence and more.
Even the Chamber and Commerce cards are Alexandria-themed, sending players on a Manumission Tour Company Walking Tour, for example.
"Roll the dice and travel to historical landmarks from the Waterfront to the West End. No matter which space you land on, you’ll see how this city charmed residents and visitors from around the world. Explore one of our nation’s most fascinating cities from the comfort of your living room. An Alexandria themed spin to your favorite board game!" according to the Chamber.
