Alexandria Warehouse Sale Celebrates 15 Years

Longest-running designer warehouse sale in the region set for Saturday, Feb. 2.

The Alexandria Warehouse Sale marks its 15th year when it opens its doors to shoppers Saturday, Feb. 2 in the heart of Old Town.

Deemed by Alexandrians and others who attend as the “Super Bowl of Shopping” (it always occurs the Saturday of Super Bowl weekend), the winter deals event will take place at the Westin Hotel located in the Carlyle District of Old Town Alexandria. The sale will include a variety of new boutiques and retailers not only located in Alexandria, but throughout the Metro region.

The event was the brainchild of Elizabeth Todd (co-founder of the Old Town Boutique District and owner of The Shoe Hive) with the first warehouse sale taking place in 2005 in the Campagna Center.

"It's amazing how much this sale has grown and the regional popularity it has achieved over the past 15 years," Todd said. "In 2005, we didn't know what to expect for year one. We honestly thought it would be a 'one and done' event, with a modest turnout. That first year was insanity with folks packed into the Campagna Center. I wish there were photos or social media back then to capture the first year. I am pretty sure we broke the building fire code that day or something."

To celebrate the 15th anniversary, the event will have a variety of promotional activities including:

  • In-line giveaways and prizes from participating boutiques
  • Mind the Mat – complimentary pilates and yoga classes between 8 – 9 a.m.
  • AR Workshop Alexandria – DIY & Shop! AR Workshop is back with a complimentary Valentine's-themed "Make & Take" station at the Warehouse Sale. Stop by between 8:30-10:30 a.m. and make a mini wood sign you will get to take home. While there, purchase a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to win a FREE seat in an upcoming Chunky Knit Blanket Workshop (valued at $85). The raffle winner will be announced at 10:30 a.m. Seats are first-come, first-served and while supplies last.
  • Truly Spiked & Sparkling Hard Seltzer Tasting Bar
  • Salon DeZen – Complimentary glitter and mini braid bar from 8 a.m – 9 a.m.

Deal seekers will find up to 80 percent off retail prices. Experienced sale shoppers line up early in the morning hours to get "first grabs" at top label merchandise, and throughout the day the sale has a steady pace of shoppers. Folks who decide to wait until the last few hours of the sale can score even more markdown deals with merchants looking to move seasonal merchandise.

The event is also giving away early entry into the Warehouse Sale to four lucky shoppers. The pass will be good for yourself and a guest to enjoy the sale a full hour before the doors open to the public. Contest ends midnight on Thursday, Jan. 31.
