In 2020, the Alexandria Drive-In launched as a not-for-profit venture led by ALX Community with significant support from The Garden (by Building Momentum), corporate sponsors and hundreds of volunteers. The venture raised more than $100,00 for local nonprofits.
This year, the Alexandria Drive-In will be led by The Garden, which runs Athena Rapid Response, and proceeds from this movie series will benefit The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria and Athena Rapid Response.
“Since the launch last August, the Alexandria Drive-In has quickly become a community staple, providing families and households with a safe activity during such a difficult time,” said Allen Brooks, Alexandria Drive-In board member. “The nostalgia of drive-ins mixed with the desire to be around others safely is something special, and we’re happy to be able to bring the community back together while fundraising for the Athena Rapid Response Innovation Lab as well as the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.”
The Alexandria Drive-In, in the parking lot of the Victory Center on Eisenhower Avenue, announced its line-up of movies for June. The movies include:
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Jurassic World
- Black Panther
- The Avengers
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Rogue One
Tickets are available now through www.alexandriadrivein.com/movies.
Tickets are $40 per car, and food trucks will be on-site each night providing concessions with online ordering through Goodfynd!
Proceeds from the movie series will benefit local Alexandria charity, ATHENA Rapid Response Innovation Lab.
