Registration is open for one of the region’s biggest and longest-running Turkey Trots.
Burn off some calories before your Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, Nov. 22 in Del Ray. The 43rd running of the Alexandria Turkey Trot is a 5-mile run through Del Ray on a flat, fast, USTAF-certified course. The race starts at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving morning from George Washington Middle School.
The event supports ALIVE!, a nonprofit organization that serves residents in need. Racers are asked to bring two nonperishable food items (cans or boxes) on race day. Racers can also make a cash donation when they register.
The winners (first, second and third place overall male and female, plus the first place male and female masters) will split a $2,000 prize pot. Other valuable prizes are also available for age group winners, and there’s a $200 bonus for setting a new course record (based on gun time only).
