One of Alexandria's most well-regarded fine dining eateries — Restaurant Eve — closed its doors June 2 after 14 years in business in Old Town, but is a reboot in the works?
Restaurateur Meshelle Armstrong, wife of Restaurant Eve chef Cathal Armstrong, recently posted a photo to social media with the comment "Next chapter — EVE." The photo shows Cathal Armstrong standing in the middle of a large space that appears to be undergoing renovations.
Adding more anticipation to her post, Armstrong dropped more hints with several hashtags including "#newchapters, #finedine and #revival."
No word on the location but Eater D.C. is guessing it is in Washington, D.C.
The Armstrongs, along with business partner Todd Thrasher, are the principals of Eat Good Food Group, which includes Eamonn's a Dublin Chipper, PX, Society Fair, Hummingbird at Hotel Indigo and their latest, Asian-themed Kaliwa at The Wharf in D.C.
Kaliwa serves up Filipino, Thai and Korean fare. Kaliwa opened in April and already has more than 100 reviews on Yelp.
Next to open will be Thrasher's Potomac Distilling Company at The Wharf. Thrasher has a rooftop tiki bar that will be part of the mix when it opens later this summer.
Restaurant Eve closed its doors at 110 S. Pitt St., after a successful run that included visits from President Obama and wife Michelle.
The former restaurant space, which dates to 1900, is for sale or lease and being marketed by District Equities. The land and building, under the City's latest assessment, are valued at just under $3 million.
