Have you ever had those days when your dog is bouncing off the walls but it’s too dark, rainy, cold or hot to take them to the dog park?
Maybe you just paid to get them groomed and you don’t want them to get covered in mud.
Snouts & Stouts, the first large indoor dog park and bar in Northern Virginia, will be opening soon.
Snouts & Stouts has not announced a specific location yet, but have revealed that it will be located somewhere on South Pickett Street in Alexandria’s West End and open in spring 2022.
Snouts & Stouts will not be the first dog bar in Alexandria. Barkhaus, which has an outdoor dog park and a small indoor play area and serves food and drinks, opened at 529 E. Howell Ave. in October 2020.
What makes Snouts & Stouts unique is that it is entirely indoors. The dog park will have 6,000 square feet of climate-controlled play space, covered in a specialized K9 turf which will be kept clean by a flushing system and sanitation. Staff, called the “Dog Patrol,” will monitor dog play, provide water and clean up after dogs so owners can sit back and relax.
While watching their dogs play, owners will be able to sip one of 10 to 15 beers that will be on tap, or a wine or seltzer. They can also grab something to eat for themselves and their pup from the snack café. All of the food sold will be dog safe, in case they manage to steal a bite.
Snouts & Stouts will operate as a dog daycare during the weekdays from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and will open as a bar for public playtime from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. on Monday to Thursday, 4 p.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday. There will also be a member-only early morning playtime from 7 a.m.-9 a.m. on weekdays.
All dog park attendees must be members or purchase a day pass online. Memberships can be purchased in advance at a discounted price on the Snouts & Stouts website.
Leading up to their grand opening, Snouts & Stouts will be hosting a few charity dog socials as a way of giving back to the community and building up the Snouts & Stouts family. The first event will be on Jan. 22 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at 3208 Colvin St. There will be food, beer, wine, dogs and treats and part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Fidos for Freedom, an organization that provides service dogs to those who need them in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area.
