It’s no secret that Alexandrians love their furry friends and there is no shortage of pet related businesses to prove it .
Since 2017, The Groomery on Glebe, at 226 W. Glebe Rd., has been pampering local pets. The owner is excited to continue to pamper them in a new location at 605 Franklin St. by the end of the year.
The grooming salon and spa’s new space was formerly occupied by Patina Polished Living, which relocated to 111 S. Columbus St. earlier this year. The Groomery on Glebe’s move is necessitated by development, as its current location will be torn down to make way for a mixed-use condo building. With the move, the salon will change its name from The Groomery on Glebe to The Groomery Ltd.
Belle Neal is the founder of the salon and spa. Neal is a certified master groomer who has studied both nationally and internationally. She specializes in grooming cats (yes, cats do need grooming!) as well as elderly dogs and animals with special needs.
“The Groomery Limited, I would call it a premier pet grooming salon that focuses on very high quality. The business and our clientele are perfectly aligned with Old Town and Alexandria. We are super excited to be on Franklin Street, said Don Neal, Belle’s husband and partner. “We looked for about a year to find just the right location and we found it,” he continued.
The Neals are excited that they will have dedicated parking in front of the new building and nearly twice the space. They are currently renovating and plan to open sometime in December. There will be no pause in service as they transition from Glebe Road to Franklin Street. The move will take place entirely in one weekend and all six staff members will stay on board at the new location.
