Alexandria's most popular pet photo contest will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 1.
Every year, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria hosts a calendar contest for animals in the area.
"Simply submit your pets' photos and ask your friends and family to vote for your pet. All submitted pictures will make an appearance in the calendar, but the animals with the most votes will win some pretty cool prizes," according to AWLA.

The photos with the most votes will appear in the 2025 annual AWLA calendar. In addition to asking friends and family members to vote, entrants are advised to keep an eye on social media for bonus vote opportunities. In addition, the first 20 submissions will receive 100 bonus votes.
Each vote costs $1, and there is no limit to the number of votes one may cast for the duration of the contest. You must purchase a minimum of five votes at a time for a minimum charge of $5. The annual fundraiser goes toward supporting animal rescue.
