Moser, right, was honored with the 2019 Pickering award for his environmental efforts in Alexandria.
Alexandria resident Kurt Moser was honored this past weekend at Alexandria's Earth Day celebration as recipient of the 2019 Ellen Pickering Environmental Excellence Award.
Moser received the award from the Alexandria Environmental Policy Commission (EPC) and Alexandria Renew Enterprises (AlexRenew).
Moser is president and co-founder of the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation. He also has served multiple times as the Environmental Science Member on the EPC, helping develop the city’s Eco-City charter and more. He also worked with local schools on environmental programs and is the co-chair NoVA Outside’s School Environmental Action Showcase.

The award is named for and honors the late Ellen Pickering, who was known for her efforts at conservation and preservation in Alexandria. She helped create the Mount Vernon Trail and advocated for the City's Open Space Plan. She was
