Philanthropy isn't just giving; it's about sharing time, skills, and trust to uplift communities. Teenagers are experiencing life firsthand and actively building their communities to make it best for everyone. The ACT for Alexandria Youth Council exemplifies this passion showing that, when united, incredible things like spotlighting disparities in Alexandria, making grants to organizations addressing pressing issues and participating in Spring2ACTion, a community-wide giving day, is making our city stronger.
This year, the ACT Youth Council is joining Spring2ACTion! Your contributions make a world of difference as we strive to provide essential resources and opportunities for our young leaders. By adding to your donation and giving to the Youth Council, you're directly fueling the mission to empower youth voices and your generosity ensures that our council members have the tools and support they need to make meaningful change in our community. Together, we can nurture the potential of Alexandria’s young people and foster a brighter future for our community. Every donation, no matter the size, amplifies the impact of our work.
This year we are learning to partner with nonprofits through grantmaking to create change in Alexandria. By reaching out to local organizations we’ve been able to lead with trust and design and launch a grant program to support nonprofits addressing equity in education and environmental justice. In the future, we plan to connect more with our community. Whether it be educating middle school and high school students on philanthropy, talking to local leaders about pressing topics affecting Alexandria youth or shedding light on local organizations making change, we want to engage with our community. We aim to contribute to a community where everyone's voices, especially from the youth, are valued. Our work to support nonprofits and our community also includes raising awareness about Spring2ACTion!
In previous years we have supported Spring2ACTion by connecting others with fun activities and games at the Old Town Farmers Market. This year, we will be promoting Spring2ACTion (and environmental sustainability!) at the ALXDog Walk Nonprofit Village. Come see us and support Spring2ACTion at the Oronoco Bay Park in Old Town Alexandria from 7:00 to 11:00 am on April 20th!
