One of the East Coast's most popular convenience store chains could be opening in Southeast Fairfax County — and in up to 40 more locations in Northern Virginia.
Covering the Corridor reported that Wawa has applied for construction permits at 6711 Richmond Highway, the former Rite Aid store.
It's part of a larger plan: Washington Business Journal first reported that the Wawa openings are part of a larger plan to open more than three dozen convenience stores throughout Northern Virginia, investing $240 million to do so.
This would be the first Wawa in Fairfax County (although one just broke ground in the Town of Vienna last week, Washington Business Journal reported).
It is not clear whether a gas station will be added to the Southeast Fairfax County location — not all Wawas have them and this would require a special permit from the County.
