If you want to vote in the Nov. 3 election, the voter registration deadline in Virginia is this Tuesday, Oct. 13.
If you moved since the last time you voted, you must update your address at with the elections office. If you can't remember if you updated your address, you can check it (and update if necessary) online at vote.elections.virginia.gov. This is the fastest method and must be completed before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
This is also the deadline for new voters or voters who have moved from out of state to register to vote. This can also be done at vote.elections.virginia.gov.
Registration is also available at local voter registration offices, including 132 N. Royal St. in Alexandria for City of Alexandria residents and at Government Center, 12000 Govt. Center Parkway, for Fairfax County residents. In-person registration is available until 5 p.m.
Your other option is to download an application at alexandriava.gov/Elections. Print, sign and mail the completed form to:

Applications must be postmarked on or before Oct. 13.
As of July 1, all registered voters in Virginia are eligible to vote absentee for any reason. Registered voters may vote absentee by mail or in person.
In-person absentee voting for this election continues until 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. DROP BOXES
Drop boxes are available during in-person voting hours, with the exception of the drop box in front of the Voter Registration Office (132 N. Royal St.), which is available and under video surveillance 24 hours a day through November 3 at 7 p.m. For a full list of voting locations and hours, visit alexandriava.gov/Elections.
The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail is Friday, October 23. Applications must be received in the Voter Registration Office by 5 p.m. that day.
