In just a few weeks, every adult in Virginia will be eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine, Gov. Ralph Northam announced Thursday.
Statewide, about one-third of adults have gotten at least one vaccine dose, and about one-fifth are fully vaccinated, according to state officials. Those numbers are slightly lower in Northern Virginia. In Alexandria, for example, about 16 percent (less than one-fifth) of people ages 16 and older have been fully vaccinated.
Most Virginia residents can register for a vaccine through https://vaccinate.virginia.gov/preregister.html. (Fairfax County residents can register at https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/novel-coronavirus/vaccine/registration.)
The mass vaccination site at the Victory Center on Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria opened this week and can process 6,000 people or more per day, depending on vaccine availability.
