Renee Altman, who has run The Clay Queen Pottery for 22 years on Mount Vernon Ave. in Del Ray, announced her retirement.
Her store will be closing shortly after Art on the Avenue, which is Saturday, Oct. 1.
"There is still a wide selection of pottery and Afghani jewelry," Altman wrote in an online post to neighbors. "The store hours will be noon until 7 p.m. everyday, but earlier on the day of Art on the Avenue. Thank you for the years of support you gave me. Could not have done it without the neighborhood."
The Clay Queen Pottery, 2303 Mt. Vernon Ave., offers high-quality stoneware, in addition to classes. Altman has been creating and teaching pottery for more than 25 years. She opened The Clay Queen Pottery in 2001.
