Alexandria Beautification Commission / The Muse Old Town
An agreement between the city, the Industrial Development Authority, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership and The Art League (TAL) will result in new art classroom studios at 1201 North Royal Street, the Muse residential building.
The agreement finally moves forward some plans for Old Town North to become an Arts and Cultural District.
In addition, TAL announced that it was able to extend its lease at the Montgomery Center until Sept. 30, 2024. The Montgomery Center is slated for demolition and redevelopment, and several restaurants have already closed or moved from the site. TAL is working on converting a warehouse into its new art school and display space on Slaters Lane.
