School starts Aug. 22 in Alexandria and Fairfax County — and this weekend, you can save money on those school supplies (and a few other things, too).
Virginia's Tax Free weekend starts today, Aug. 5 and continues through Sunday night.
"During the sales tax holiday, you can buy qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star™ and WaterSense™ products without paying sales tax," according to the Virginia Dept. of Taxation.
However, a number of local shops are also giving tax breaks to customers on a variety of other items, as well. Several Old Town Business members will pay your taxes for you on a variety of items depending on the business.
