Alexandrians are already opening their hearts and pocketbooks for more than 100 local nonprofits as Spring2ACTion gets underway.
Early giving is now open, allowing residents and businesses the opportunity to provide donations to nonprofit organizations ahead of the official April 25 region-wide Day of Giving. Click here to see a list of all 164 participating nonprofits.
Hosted by ACT for Alexandria, the online giving day was created to support nonprofits doing incredible work in the community.
Last year, 9,058 individuals donated $1,592,459 to support 158 local nonprofits.
Over the past seven years, since 2011, 45,000 donors have given more than $6 million to 160 nonprofits through Spring2ACTion.
In addition to direct donations, here are ways to support Spring2ACTion:
- Give your Two Cents to Spring2ACTion: 2 cents of every gallon of gas purchased at Yates Automotive during the month of April will support Spring2ACTion as part of Yates Service’s Give Your Two Cents program.
- Nickels for Nonprofits: When you shop at Whole Foods during April, May and June and use your own grocery bag, Whole Foods will donate 5 cents to ACT.
- Alexandria Restaurant Partners: Dine at Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, The Majestic, Virtue Feed & Grain, Vola’s Dockside Grill & Hi-Tide Lounge on April 25 – 5 percent of all sales will support Spring2ACTion.
- Sugar Shack Donuts: Stop by Sugar Shack Donuts in Alexandria for your free donut on April 25 – just show proof of your donation.
- Holy Cow Burgers, Pork Barrel BBQ & Sweet Fire Donna’s: 25 cents from each purchase will be donated to your favorite nonprofit. The nonprofit with the most customer designations will win $500.
- South Block Juice Co.: 15 percent of all sales on April 25 will support Spring2ACTion.
