Mount Vernon area residents will see increased air, road and water traffic and security Monday, as President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron dine at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate.
President Macron is in the D.C. area on a three-day official visit.
The Estate will close to the public at 1 p.m. Monday. There may be rolling road closures mid-day Monday in the area, and there may be water traffic restrictions along the Potomac River. Residents can expect helicopters overhead, as well.
While several famous heads of state have visited Mount Vernon Estate in the past, a private presidential dinner is very rare. Monday's event will be a private event for Trump, Macron and their wives, according to media reports.
Other famous Mount Vernon Estate visitors in recent years have included Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands in 2017; Melania Trump in 2017; The Honorable Sonia Sotomayor in 2016 and Queen Sofia of Spain in 2016. In 2015, Prince Charles visited, as did King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain visited.
