Alexandrians were among the estimated hundreds of thousands who marched in Washington, DC Saturday in one of several 'March for Our Lives' events nationwide.
The marches were organized by students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students died in a violent attach. The teens, their parents, friends, teachers and supporters called on Congress to pass new gun control laws that could help prevent school shootings.
Alexandria student Noami Wadler, 11, addressed the crowd and helped organize the walkout at George Mason Elementary School on March 14. (Students at several other Alexandria schools, including T.C. Williams High School, walked out that day, which was the one-month anniversary of the Parkland shooting.)
"I represent the African American women who are victims of gun violence who are simply statistics instead of vibrant, beautiful girls who are full of potential," Wadler said.
