Old Town Books is expanding to serve more young bookworms.
The popular local book store is expanding its children's section into an entirely new store.
Old Town Books, at 130 S. Royal St., will be taking the space at 128 S. Royal St., currently occupied by longtime popular boutique, Boxwood.
"The new space will expand our shop into the other half of our beautiful historic 1840s brick building," owner Ally Kirkpatrick announced to her customers Thursday evening.
"Our expansion comes with lots of fun surprises, including more than tripling the inventory of books in stock for young teens, middle graders, and early readers. We’re also growing our selection of kids nonfiction titles, activity books, picture books, and baby books," Kirkpatrick said.
Kirkpatrick has three children of her own and they inspired her to grow the business in this direction. Old Town Books Junior is being designed by the talented creatives at GroH Playrooms.
The new space is expected to open this summer.
