The Alexandria City library system is taking a step back due to coronavirus concerns.
Effective this Monday, Dec. 7, the library will offer curbside-only and virtual services until further notice.
Although library buildings will be closed, library staff will offer telephone support and virtual reference during curbside hours. In addition, electronic resources and databases will be available, and virtual programming services will continue.
Residents may place holds on items by logging into your account at alexlibraryva.org. Telephone service is also available.
Payment of fines and fees are accepted online. Checks or money orders may be mailed to your local library branch. No cash transactions can take place.
Hours and additional information are available here.
"We apologize for any inconvenience library closures might cause, but we thank you for your patience and always appreciate your support," library staff wrote in a notification on the library system's website. "We know that Alexandria’s library is a valued resource for so many readers and supporters. To that end, we’ll work closely with the Alexandria City government and health department. The Library Board will revisit this decision and will keep you informed of any changes."
