There will be four free drive-up or walk-up COVID-19 testing opportunities in the coming days — two in Alexandria and two in nearby Fairfax County.
The Virginia Dept. of Health will be working with officials from the Fairfax County Health Department on a free drive-through and walk-up COVID-19 testing initiative this weekend.
The testing will take place as follows:
- 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at Annandale High School, 4700 Medford Dr.
- 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, at Bailey’s Elementary School, 6111 Knollwood Dr.
The Virginia Dept. of Health is also working with Alexandria health officials to offer testing as follows:
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, May 25 at Landmark Mall, 5801 Duke St., enter from Van Dorn St.
- 10 am. - 6 p.m. Monday, May 25 at Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology, walk-up only (no drive-through testing).
At all events, the testing will be open to anyone over the age of 2 who has symptoms or who thinks they might have been exposed to coronavirus. You must wear a mask or face covering on site.
Unlike most testing, you will not need a doctor referral, insurance or an appointment.
The Annandale Blog reported that the initiative is part of a statewide effort to focus on neighborhoods with high incidences of COVID-19.
The 22041 ZIP code, which covers the Bailey’s Crossroads area, has 1,700 cases per 100,000 persons. It is reportedly the second-highest ZIP code for coronavirus cases in Fairfax County.
The 22003 ZIP code in Annandale has a rate of more than 1,200 cases per 100,000 people.
