Abdel Elnoubi has announced he is running for a seat on Alexandria's city council.
Elnoubi is a member of the Alexandria City Public Schools Board and is an engineering project manager at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA).
"As your School Board member, we’ve made so much progress in Alexandria: We raised teacher pay in every budget, successfully introduced and co-sponsored FY24 budget amendments to expand mental health resources for our students by adding psychologist positions, addressed capacity challenges by funding additional teaching positions, and so much more," Elnoubi said in his campaign announcement email. "I’m especially proud of drafting and passing a resolution calling on the city to implement 15 mph school zones for our schools."

Elnoubi joins an increasingly crowded field for positions on city council. Mayor Justin Wilson has announced he will not run for re-election; current Vice Mayor Amy Jackson and council member Alyia Gaskins are running for the position.
In addition, current council members Kirk McPike, John Taylor Chapman, Canek Aguirre, and Sarah Bagley are running for re-election. James Lewis, Charlotte Scherer, Jacinta Green and Kevin Harris are also running for seats on the city council.
