Douglas MacArthur Elementary School grand opening Aug. 18, 2023.
Alexandria's newest public elementary school opened in time to welcome students.
Friday was the ribbon cutting for the new Douglas MacArthur Elementary School on Janneys Lane in Alexandria.
“We are so excited about this new building and its offering of a modern, welcoming and innovative space where our students can learn and grow and our staff can teach and thrive,” said ACPS Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt.
While there's still work to be done on the outside of the building, students are benefitting from all new spaces in a 154,000 square-foot building designed for 840 students.
