A new Dollar Tree will be opening later this year in Alexandria.
The discount store will open at 3811 Mt. Vernon Ave., north of East Glebe Road, in the Arlandria neighborhood.
There are several other Dollar Tree stores in the region. Most items are $1.25 — a recent change for the company.

"In the midst of unprecedented inflation, Dollar Tree recently changed its primary price point to $1.25 in order to continue to offer our customers all the products they’ve come to know and love, plus hundreds of new ones, and to bring back customer favorites at an incredible value."
The store started in 1953, when a person named K.R. Perry opened a Ben Franklin variety store in Norfolk, Virginia. Along with business partners, Perry opened a toy store in the 1960s and one of his business partners (a relative) started Only $1.00 stores in the 1970s that expanded alongside the toy stores.
