The City of Alexandria is seeking resident input on its search for a new City of Alexandria Police Chief and, separately, on quality of life in Alexandria.
The City has hired the International Association of Chiefs of Police to conduct an open, competitive search, which will begin with an online feedback form.
The feedback form will be open through the end of this month.
The short feedback form asks for the five most important skills and qualities a police chief should have, and asks what areas a new police chief should focus on in the next few years, among other questions. The survey is anonymous.
In addition, the City of Alexandria is asking residents broader questions about their quality of life — but not everyone can participate in giving answers. The Resident Survey, by ETC Institute, has selected a cross-section of Alexandria residents to ensure a low margin of error.
A selection of Alexandria residents received a mailing about the survey. This is the first time the survey has been done since 2020. Results will be provided to the public sometime this summer. Learn more here.
