ALX Promise, a free and voluntary certification program administered by the Alexandria Health Department, is launching.
The program will help assure residents and visitors that local businesses are taking the necessary steps to ensure health and safety for employees and customers.
Any business in the City of Alexandria is eligible for the program as the region prepares for an economic recovery and starts to promote consumer confidence.
"When customers see the ALX Promise shield displayed on a business’s window or website, they will know that the business has committed to higher safety standards for employees and customers than the minimum rules required by law for all businesses," according to the City of Alexandria's information on the program.
Specifically, businesses certified in the ALX Promise program will have done the following:
- Participated in training with an AHD Environmental Health Specialist on the requirements to reopen their business.
- Trained all of its employees on the safety measures needed for a safe reopening.
- Submitted a completed checklist, training record and pledge commitment to ensure the safety of its employees and staff.
- Agreed to follow all future applicable health guidance as Alexandria enters new phases of reopening.
Visit Alexandria is partnering with the Alexandria Health Department to promote a webpage as a resource for residents and visitors at VisitAlexandriaVA.com/ALX-Promise. The website will list businesses that are certified through ALX Promise.
Businesses can start signing up for the certification process here.
Residents can expect to start seeing badges from ALX Promise-certified businesses in the coming weeks.
