Alexandria's waterfront is part of the reason why MONEY magazine named Alexandria the #1 U.S. travel destination.
Alexandrians know how good they have it and word is spreading. MONEY magazine has announced that the City is the #1 travel destination in the country.
MONEY cites Alexandria’s historic charm, waterfront location, proximity to D.C. and affordable hotel rates among the reasons the city snagged the #1 spot. The article also highlights Alexandria’s vibrant dining and boutique scenes and must-see attractions like the Torpedo Factory Art Center and The Birchmere, and calls Alexandria the “perfect jumping off point” to explore George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
The publication's annual list of Best Destinations is part of the 2018 Best in Travel issue that highlights destinations that deliver the highest value for your dollar. The newly released list says, “MONEY’s winners aren’t necessarily the cheapest, nor are they always the most luxe; they’re where quality, cost, and value come together to provide a terrific travel experience.”
