Fairfax County is looking at how to make life better for residents over the age of 50.
Through the research company National Research Center, the County is mailing surveys to a random sample of residents ages 50 and older. Households that receive the survey are invited to participate either through an online portal or through the mail. Survey responses will be anonymous.
The 50+ Community Survey is aimed at measuring how adults see their County, including:
- Local lifestyles of people 50+, such as opportunities to socialize, work and volunteer; cost of living; transportation; and overall neighborliness and friendliness.
- Issues facing people 50+, such as retirement, housing, health care, and caregiving.
- Use of local community services, such as Senior Centers and public transportation.
Surveys are being mailed this month. "We want to know more about the experience of aging in the local region so we can align resources and planning to better meet the needs of Fairfax area adults 50+," according to the County's information website on the project.
Compiled data will be available later this spring. Since the survey is a random sample, not all residents ages 50 and older will receive a survey.
