In a city where you can often find rowers plying their craft along the Potomac River, Alexandria residents will soon have the option of perfecting their skills or getting in a good workout at a new fitness boutique called Row House.
Row House opens in mid-August in the city's Old Town North neighborhood.
Row House will open its doors next Thursday, Aug. 15; a grand opening celebration will follow on Saturday, Sept. 21. Located at 917 N. Saint Asaph St., the new studio will offer members low-impact and high-energy workouts using Concept2 rowing machines or ergometers.
Free parking will be available in a garage in the building.
The Alexandria location is owned and operated by local entrepreneurs and married couple Fahad and Ayesha Qureshi. Having a background in IT sales, Fahad and his wife noted that they always wanted to own a business of their own.
Seeing the lack of rowing concepts in the area, the Qureshis tried Row House and quickly found how inclusive and non-intimidating the workout was. Wanting to bring this concept to their neighbors in Alexandria, Row House Old Town Alexandria is the first to open in Northern Virginia.
“I was not very athletic and would be intimidated in the group fitness class, but Row House is a great workout to bring people together,” said Fahad. “People of all fitness levels can find Row House beneficial and we can’t wait to introduce this concept to Northern Virginia residents.”
Row House will offer six classes to accommodate all fitness levels:
- House
- Body
- Power
- Restore
- Full Row
- LAUNCH
Utilizing 85 percent of the body’s muscles, rowing maximizes calorie burn, activates the core, strengthens and lengthens the body and ultimately improves posture, Row House points out.
