Garden Home
Garden Home is a lifestyle company focused on small batch, handmade items. Based in Alexandria, this women-owned company offers beautiful hand knit and crocheted blankets, faux fur-backed pillows, luxury dog beds and handmade stuffed animal dolls along with other items, including the bento bag.
The bento bag was born from the zero-waste movement and modeled on the Furoshiki idea of wrapping items in cloth. This bag style has become popular with knitters as a flexible and easily personalized container for yarn. Reusable and washable, Garden Home’s bento bags fold flat for easy storage and are available in cotton, linen and wool. Other bags include antique embroidery-stamped linen drawstring bags and faux fur zippered pouches.
Garden Home will also be debuting a new line of jewelry, from botanically-inspired gold leaf earrings toopulent silk thread tassel and faux fur pom earrings. Clear glass beads adorn a blue glass vase, and semi-precious stones can be found in drop earrings and half-moon necklaces.
A curated selection of houseware items will also be featured in the shop as well as the work of two Alexandria-based artists:Blue Lark Designs and Christine Witmore. Their work is available in cards, unframed prints and matted and framed prints.Owner Bonny McMahon will be using the space as a shop and studio; you may come in to find her embroidering the nose of a stuffed bear, hand knitting, or weaving.
All of the textiles within the pop-up shop have been made by her, either as a single piece or in pairs. Bonny also offers custom orders and can work with you to create textiles for your home.
This month-long pop-up shop will feature collaborations with other local makers to include truly-life, PawsGo, AIVA and Mabel Art & Design.
