With restaurant space at a premium and the delivery industry growing, Alexandria Restaurant Partners has embarked on a new enterprise with virtual restaurant Touchdown Wings and Burgers.
What exactly is a virtual restaurant? A virtual restaurant is a brand that does not have its own storefront, and the food is only available for delivery. These restaurants are typically housed inside another established restaurant. Touchdown Wings & Burgers runs out of Joe Theismann’s Restaurant.
In mid-October, ARP opened Touchdown Wings & Burgers, a new brand for the organization.
“We think that it’s a segment out there that people love,” said partner Dave Nicholas. “They love wings, they love burgers. We also think it is a cuisine that travels well.”
They offer 15 varieties of wing sauces, including Korean barbecue, spicy chili con queso and Caribbean mango mojo, as well as classics like barbecue and hot buffalo. Regular burgers are on the menu alongside chicken sandwiches and Impossible Burger substitutions.
A virtual restaurant allows the company to serve more customers without having to find a way to expand seating. This is especially important during the pandemic, as restaurants are not able to operate at full capacity due to state health regulations to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
More ARP virtual restaurants are in the works. From Palette 22 in Arlington, ARP is launching a virtual Mia’s Italian Kitchen.
You can order Touchdown Wings & Burgers though Uber Eats, Grubhub and Seamless.
