The Chewish Deli announced they will be opening a location at 807 Pendleton St. in the next few weeks.
According to the business’s website, founder Greg Linzey is known for his hand rolled, NY-style water bagels. In addition to bagels, The Chewish Deli offers coffee as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
The business began as a weekend pop-up in Old Town in 2018 but has been more recently operating out of a food truck. Before an accident in June temporarily sidelined the truck, it was alternating between the 2200 block of Eisenhower Avenue and the EatLoco Farmers Market at One Loudon. The businesses also provides catering and bagel deliveries to spots around Alexandria, like Misha’s Coffeehouse.
The Chewish Deli’s new location was the former home of Pendleton Carryout Co., a restaurant incubator with to-go fare from rising chefs which opened in October 2018 but quietly closed earlier this year.
The new location will start out with limited hours for walk-in service and pre-order pickups. Once the business is established, it plans to offer an expanded menu with “more deli items, take and go foods, a full coffee menu and some other fun stuff,” according to a post on The Chewish Deli’s Instagram account.
