Del Ray’s SnackBar (and Bagel Uprising located inside it) will be closing on Monday, Sept. 3, but a new venture is in the works for that space.
SnackBar opened in late 2017 in the space formerly occupied by Caboose Café at 2419 Mount Vernon Ave. Scott Mitchell’s SnackBar offered breakfast, lunch and dinner — plus snacks and drinks. The space was also the home of Bagel Uprising.
On Tuesday, Bagel Uprising tweeted: “Dear Bagel People: Our current location (SnackBar) will close after this weekend. Alas, bagels will not be part of the new operation. Stock up through Monday (9/3) & stay tuned as I figure out the next step. (And if you have leads on a future home for bagels, please reach out!)”
Bagel Uprising launched at the Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market in September 2015, and found a home at SnackBar in late 2017.
The new operation that Bagel Uprising referenced will be a venture from Common Plate Hospitality — the team behind Mason Social, Augie’s Mussel Bar and the soon-to-open Urbano 116. A spokesperson for Common Plate Hospitality wrote in a text message to Alexandria Living Magazine Wednesday afternoon, “I can confirm we are taking over the Bagel Uprising space, but I have no other details to share at this time.”
SnackBar and Bagel Uprising will close at 2 p.m. Monday.
